World Glider Aerobatic Championships Close in Slovakia

The 15th FAI World Glider Aerobatic Championships (Unlimited Category) and the 3rd FAI World Advanced Glider Aerobatic Championships have come to a close in Dubnica nad Váhom, Slovakia on Saturday, August 18th, 2012.

The new FAI World Glider Aerobatic Champion (Unlimited) is Maciej Pospieszynski (below) of Poland flying a Swift S-1. Ferenc Toth of Hungary was in second place, also in a Swift. Third was Markus Feyerabend of Germany in a Swift as well.

The 3rd FAI World Advanced Glider Aerobatic Championships was held in conjunction with the WGAC, using the same box and contest officials, and results were a stunning sweep for the Italians. The new FAI World Advanced Glider Aerobatic Champion is Luca Bertossio (second below) of Italy flying a Swift S-1. In second, Marcello Tedeschi of Italy in a Swift, followed by Sasa Marvin of Italy also in a Swift S-1.

The Italians also won the Gold in the team competition with Germany in second and Poland in third.

A total of 38 Advanced and 27 Unlimited glider pilots participated, representing 13 countries in the two Championships. Full results can be found at www.civa-results.com.
