Sweden’s Ryfa rocks the Riviera in Red Bull Air Race Free Practice

History’s first Red Bull Air Race stop in France took off over the film capital of Cannes on Friday, and Challenger Class pilot Daniel Ryfa of Sweden was ready for his close-up, delivering the fastest run in each of two Free Practice sessions. But local darling Mélanie Astles was right behind, looking for her own starring role when Qualifying and Race Day captivate the Croisette this weekend.

FAI Global Technical Partner Noosphere’s Max Polyakov on the close links between technology and air sports

Winners of 3rd FAI Pan-American Paragliding Championship 2018 Brazil

After 8 intense days, 3rd FAI Pan-American Paragliding Championship held in Baixo Guandu Brazil from 01 April to 8 April 2018 has come to an end.  There were more than 20 countries and 120 pilots, competitive spirit and solidarity. There were 4 valid interesting tasks. Now the official results are published: we have Brazil in the top rank of the competition, Colombia as the best team, and the best PanAmerican Female pilots are Priscila Fevereiro (BRA), Andrea Jaramillo Jaramillo (COL) and Shauin Kao (ARG).

Meet 16-year-old drone-racing star Thomas Grout

Thomas Grout, 16, came third in last year’s FAI Drone Racing World Cup: a fantastic achievement for such a young pilot. The talented young racer only started flying drones about two years ago after discovering FPV (first person view) racing online.

With FPV racing, pilots use headsets that are linked to cameras in the drones, giving the impression they are inside the drone, piloting it from there.

Five minutes with FAI Drone Racing World Cup 2017 winner Dario Neuenschwander

Swiss drone racing pilot Dario Neuenschwander beat off fierce competition from more than 400 rivals to win the FAI Drone Racing World Cup 2017 with an overall score of 142 points. But while reaching the top level in most air sports takes years, if not decades, of dedication, Neuenschwander scored his historic victory after drone racing for just two short years.
