Sophie Curio to head to Czechia for the FAI Women’s World Gliding Championships 2025

After seven consecutive racing days at the 20m 2 Seat & Club Class Nationals in Temora, Australia, Sophie Curio was crowned the new Australian Club Class Champion. She flew her LS4a consistently, winning one day, taking second place on three days and third place, once. This was more than enough to put her at the top of the table, beating Jack Hart in his ASW20b into second place.

Three Young British Balloon Pilots Awarded Britannia Trophy for bravery during tragedy

The Britannia Trophy is awarded by the UK's Royal Aero Club to the British aviator/s who accomplished the most meritorious performance in aviation during the previous year. In 2024 the trophy honoured three young pilots who showed remarkable courage during the tragic accident of an experienced pilot and close friend, Peter Gregory.

Czech air sports heroes celebrated at annual Gala Awards

Czech air sports heroes were held into the spotlight at a gala evening on 28 February in Usti, Czechia. In the presence of distinguished guests, including President Petr Pavel, and FAI Companion of Honour, Alvaro de Orleans-Borbon, the award for Czech Aviation Athlete of the Year 2024 was named as world champion glider aerobatic pilot Marek Veselý. Air sports trainer of the year was awarded to Čestmír Zítka, head coach of the Czech women’s national parachuting team since 2018.
