Aeromodelling: double 2018 FAI champion Arijan Hucaljuk shares his tips for success

With three podium places in three different events, it’s safe to say 2018 was a good year for Croatian aeromodelling pilot Arijan Hucaljuk.

The talented young aeromodeller won both the FAI F3J World Championship for Model Gliders and the FAI F5 European Championships for Electric Model Aircraft, and came second in the FAI F3K European Championship for Model Gliders.

It’s a fantastic achievement, especially as each event falls into a different soaring class. We caught up with Hucaljuk, 26, to find out more about his approach.

Jeannette Piccard: Blazing a Trail to the Stratosphere

Jeannette Ridlon Piccard (1895-1981) was born to overcome boundaries. A scientist with a strong interest in psychology, philosophy and theology, she dared to dream big, breaking through the metaphorical glass ceiling to become the first female balloon pilot in the US, the first woman to reach the stratosphere, and finally, becoming one of the first 11 female Episcopal priests in the USA.

Virgin Galactic hits new heights with fourth rocket-powered test flight

The dream of space tourism came one step closer last week, when Virgin Galactic’s SpaceShipTwo hit its highest altitude to date by soaring 82.7km above the surface of the earth before landing again safely in California’s Mojave Desert.

The passenger rocket ship, which resembles an airplane and is also known as the VSS Unity, took off from Mojave air and spaceport on Thursday December 13.

Supercharging the FAI World Air Games 2022

The FAI and the Turkish Aeronautical Association (THK) have announced that the FAI World Air Games in Turkey have been moved from 2020 to September 2022. 

In a statement signed by FAI President Robert Henderson and THK President A. Bertan Nogaylaroğlu both organisations committed to “supercharging” the FAI World Air Games to provide an “exciting, engaging, professional and safe global event”.
