How can we encourage girls and boys to persevere with aeromodelling? Around the world, young girls and boys are being given insights into the varied an exciting world of aeromodelling at hundreds, if not thousands of junior events.

What remains? Children enthusiastically build small and larger model planes from balsa wood and lightweight foam materials and then fly them in a hall or on an open field. This is great. However, many of the clubs responsible for these events complain that none of the children remain faithful to aeromodelling

Success for the first ever 2019 FAI Hong Kong Open Drone Racing Championship

With the rapid emergence of drones (or unmanned aerial vehicles; UAVs), and drone racing on the rise of late, the Hong Kong Drone Sports Association (HKDSA), an affiliated organisation of FAI and the Air-sports Federation of Asia (AFA), was established earlier this year in Hong Kong. HKDSA aims to promote and support all forms of recreational, competitive and commercial drone and UAV activities in Hong Kong, within an environment of safety, responsibility and mutual respect.

PWCA Asian Tour 2020 starts in Pokhara, Nepal

We are glad to announce that  PWCA Asian Tour continues its successful development in 2020. PWCA has already confirmed 3 events in the next year all of which will fall under FAI 2 category.

The first event of the Asian Tour series will take place in Pokhara, Nepal.

Dates: 23rd of February - 29th of February, 2020

Organizers: PWCA, NAA - Nepal Airport Association and NEPHA Nepal Paragliding and Hang gliding Association

Young artists show their skills at the 30th FAI World Aerobatic Championships

Running alongside the 10-day long competition in Châteauroux, France - at which 160,000 spectactors watched the aerobatic displays – there were plenty of activities organised for younger visitors such as bouncy castles and pedal-plane races.

And as the pilots etched their dazzling lines across the blue canvas of the sky, younger visitors also took the opportunity to express their creativity down on the ground, at the FAI Young Artists Contest stand.

Spectacular racing at the FAI Jeonju World Drone Masters in Korea

At the 2019 FAI World Drone Masters in Jeonju, Korea, three top home nation drone racers took a clean sweep of the medals after speeding around a new type of tunnel track which premiered at the event.

A total of 50 competitors took part, representing 20 nations including new competitors from South America. Thirty-one of the racers were classified as junior, three of which were female pilots.
